Bob Allen
Bob Allen has spent his 35-year career exclusively underwriting, brokering, and developing capital for the medical professional liability market. He is the founder and President of Pro-Praxis (a CRC/Starwind company), a managing general agency that specializes in healthcare liability risks. Since 2014, his group has underwritten $500M in healthcare professional liability premium for five (5) A+ rated carriers. The long-term vision of the group is to offer an array of P&C insurance products for the healthcare industry.
Bob leads a team that offers professional liability products for Hospitals, Allied Health, Physicians, Clinical Research and Senior Living, with an emphasis on large accounts. The team has authored industry reports regarding some of the more difficult trends in the market such as Sexual Misconduct in Hospitals and Correctional Medicine.
Prior to starting Pro-Praxis, Bob was the Global Head of Healthcare for Torus (now Core Specialty). Other underwriting positions included roles within Allied World, Zurich, and AIG. The first seven years of his career started with brokerage in 1990. He worked in Marsh’s New York Healthcare team and eventually became a team leader within Johnson & Higgins (now Marsh).
Bob is a University of Virginia graduate, a father of two, an MPL Association Affiliate Partner, and is a fundraiser for Autism, Epilepsy and Children’s Cancer. After a long insurance career, he plans to start a vocational program for adults with developmental challenges.
