MedPro Continues Cyber Liability Expansion Program

Continuing the growth of its cyber footprint, Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary The Medical Protective Company pushes forward with the introduction of higher limits for its cyber liability program. MedPro previously filed to introduce higher limit tiers to its Cyber Liability & Data Breach Coverage in California, tentatively effective on Jan. 1, 2021.

Now the carrier will bring this product change to Florida next year, pending regulatory approval. Availability of the offering will also be expanded, making the product available to chiropractors, multi-specialty healthcare professionals and podiatrists, alongside physicians.

Cyber base limits which are included within the carrier’s medical professional liability will stay the same, starting at $100,000 but higher limit tiers starting at $500,000/$500,000 will be available. These limit tiers will rise in increments of $1 million/$1 million, going up to $10 million. Increased deductibles will also be introduced to the carrier’s playbook, along with the addition of its new non-physical damage business interruption and expense endorsement.

This move is a continued response to top cyber liability carriers within the medical professional liability space, which includes Beazley, AIG and Travelers. Expect continued cyber tweaks in the medical malpractice space from MedPro in 2021.
